What are Silicone Applications in the Leg?
Silicone applications in the leg; it is the process of using medical implants suitable for leg anatomy to structurally thicken thin calves, correct asymmetries, or eliminate deformities resulting from accidents. This method provides a permanent volume and aesthetic contour to the legs.

ToggleApplication Technique and Process
The prostheses used in these applications are medical products specially manufactured for shaping the leg. The prostheses are placed on the calf muscle or under the fascia through a small incision made at the natural curve behind the knee using endoscopic methods. After the procedure, an average thickening of about 3-4 cm around the leg is achieved.
After the operation, the patient is not allowed to walk for approximately 12 hours. An average period of 3 months is required for the leg to take its final shape and for the swelling to completely subside.
Types and Selection of Silicone Implants
Leg aesthetics silicone applications There are fundamentally two types of implants used within the scope:
- Montellano (Asymmetric): It is the type that mimics the natural curve of the leg, fuller at the top and tapering downwards.
- Glicenstein (Symmetric): It is the type that provides a flatter and more proportional thickening.
The choice of implant is determined by the surgeon based on whether the patient has Bowed Leg issues or not. For bodybuilders, it is also possible to place an implant on the outer part of the leg.
“In an aesthetic leg; the distance between the knee and the thickest part of the calf and the distance between the knee and the end of the calf should be in accordance with the Golden Ratio (1.618).”
– Prof. Dr. Ahmet Karacalar

Silicone applications in the leg
In some cases, silicone alone may not be sufficient. In such cases, Thick Leg Slimming techniques or fat injections can be combined to apply “Composite” (Hybrid) aesthetic approaches.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is an implant done on the leg?
Yes, it is being done. Implants are safely applied especially to gain volume for those with very thin legs (stick legs), those with polio sequelae, or patients who have experienced tissue loss after trauma.
Can silicone be attached to the leg?
Yes, “medical calf silicones” specifically produced for leg shaping are used. Unlike breast silicones, these silicones have a harder (cohesive) structure and are resistant to pressure.
How many years does silicone last?
The prostheses used in leg aesthetic silicone applications are made from materials that do not react with the body and have no risk of explosion. They are generally permanent for a lifetime and do not need to be replaced unless there are complications.
